Band News - December 2011
THE CHRISTMAS PERIOD HAS STARTED
The Christmas period is very busy for most Brass Bands, and Potters Bar Town Band is no exception.
As always, the Band forms a small carolling group, and plays in a variety of locations around the town centre. A collection is made, which either goes towards Band funds or charity. This year we will be undertaking 3 sessions on the three Saturday mornings before Christmas.
Standing in the cold for 2 hours playing Christmas Carols is never easy, and we are always grateful for a hot drink to revive the figures and toes - our thanks go to Tim, Greggs Bakers, for supplying drinks and mince pies during last Saturday's carolling session.
In addition, the band is pleased to offer it's services free of charge to the Brookmans Park Rotary Club, and assist them with their annual Tree Lighting event. This event is always well attended by the local community, and consists of food and mulled wine supplied by the local businesses, the tree lighting by a local celebrity, and the arrival of Santa, which is always greeted with much excitement by the local children.
